Privacy Policy

Introduction

Exposure IQ ("we", "our", or "the app") is a photography light meter app developed by Alan Hermann. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Exposure IQ is built with a "privacy-first" architecture. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Photos or images from your camera or photo library
• Location data (even when using sun position features, location is processed on-device only)
• Device identifiers or tracking information
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Any camera feed or captured images
• Advertising IDs or IDFA

On-Device Processing

All features of Exposure IQ operate entirely on your device:

• Camera Analysis: Light metering and exposure calculations are performed locally using AVFoundation.
• Scene Recognition: Machine learning scene analysis runs on-device using Apple's CoreML framework.
• Face Detection: Uses Apple's Vision framework locally; no facial data leaves your device.
• Sun Position: Calculated on-device using CoreLocation; your location is never transmitted to any server.
• Gear Library: Your camera and lens data is stored locally on your device only.

Camera Access

Exposure IQ requires camera access to function as a light meter. This access is used solely to:

• Analyze light levels in real-time for exposure recommendations
• Detect faces for portrait metering (Pro feature)
• Perform scene analysis for photography mode suggestions

No images or video are ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. The camera feed is processed frame-by-frame in memory and immediately discarded.

Location Services

The Sun Position Tracker feature (Pro) may request location access. If granted:

• Your location is used only to calculate sun position and golden hour times
• Location data never leaves your device
• We do not store location history
• You can use the app without enabling location services

Subscriptions and Purchases

Exposure IQ offers optional Pro subscriptions through Apple's App Store:

• Pro Monthly: $1.99/month (3-day free trial)
• Pro Annual: $14.99/year (3-day free trial)

All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history beyond what Apple provides to verify your subscription status.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings → Subscriptions.

Third-Party Services

Exposure IQ does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use:

• Google Analytics or Firebase
• Facebook SDK
• Advertising networks
• Crash reporting services that collect personal data
• Any third-party servers

The app is fully functional offline after initial download from the App Store.

Data Storage

Any data you create within the app (such as saved gear profiles) is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage. This data:

• Remains on your device only
• May be included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled
• Is deleted when you uninstall the app

Children's Privacy

Exposure IQ does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. Since the app does not collect information from any users, it is safe for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. You maintain complete control over any information stored locally on your device.
